Leggett & Platt’s Consumer Products Unit has formed an Adjustable Bed Division. The new division will exclusively design, manufacture and market Leggett’s adjustable bed product line. The Consumer Products Unit also has integrated the Ornamental Bed, Steel Products and West Coast Steel Divisions into its Fashion Bed Group.
The Adjustable Bed Division will be headed by Mike Newman in the post of division president. Also appointed to new posts in the division are Jimmy Grimes as vice president of sales; Robert Oexman, vice president of marketing; Tom Long, vice president of operations; and Scott Creson, controller. Chris Brust, Howard Lapidus, Scott Mansfield and Larry Shinkle retain their posts as sales managers and report to Grimes.
Terry Bowen, vice president at Leggett & Platt and president of the Consumer Products Unit, said, “Over the last several years, the adjustable bed category has experienced significant growth, in both product development and consumer demand. As a result of the ever–growing importance of adjustable beds in the marketplace, we have created this new infrastructure to focus exclusively on this exciting product line opportunity.”
Ron Ainsworth has been named president of the Fashion Bed Group and is responsible for all activities relating to ornamental beds and steel bedding support products worldwide. Dick Ralston, senior vice president of sales and marketing, and Al Baudler, vice president of finance, report to Ainsworth. A vice president of operations will be named in the near future.
“This integration will simplify the relationships we enjoy with our customers, will allow for more focused program development efforts and will improve the level of customer service we can offer. Without question, it will make us a more agile supplier of these associated product offerings,” Bowen said.
Leggett & Platt’s Consumer Products Unit manufactures, sources and markets bedding support products, ornamental beds, adjustable beds and coated fabric products.
