U.S. bedding sales soar

The wholesale dollar value of mattresses and foundations sold in the United States in March jumped 17.6% over the same month in 2010, according to the Bedding Barometer, a monthly sales report from the International Sleep Products Association. Unit sales (mattresses and foundations) rose 9.6% for the month and the average unit selling price increased 7.3% when compared to the prior–year period. For the first quarter of 2011, unit sales are up 3%, dollar values are up 8.3% and the AUSP is up 5.1% when compared to the first quarter of 2010.
