Chicago Century Furniture Corp. recalls mattresses

Chicago Century Furniture Corp. (formerly Century Furniture Corp.) has voluntarily recalled about 340 imported mattresses that fail to meet the U.S. federal open-flame standard, according to a news release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

No incidents or injuries related to the mattresses have been reported, the CPSC said.

The recall involves twin, full, queen and king mattresses with the model number MG006. The mattresses are 3 inches thick with white and off-white fabric in a tone-on-tone swirl pattern. The model number can be found on a paper tag attached to the foot of the mattress. The words “Century Spring Mattress” and a picture of a man and woman embracing appear on a fabric label on the top panel near the foot of the mattress.

The mattresses were sold exclusively at Chicago Century Furniture Inc. at 3034 S. Wentworth Ave. in Chicago from January 2008 through October 2010 for between $190 and $360.

They were manufactured in China.

The company advises consumers to immediately stop using the mattresses and contact Chicago Century Furniture Corp. at 855-236-8830 to receive a replacement mattress. The company also is contacting consumers directly.
