Kingsdown refines Sleep Smart, expands Passions

Kingsdown Sleep Smart bed

High-tech bed: Kingsdown’s Sleep Smart line sports a plusher feel and an opening price point of $6,999.

Mattress manufacturer Kingsdown Inc. officially is rolling out Sleep Smart at the Las Vegas Market, held at the World Market Center July 29-Aug. 2. It was introduced as a concept bed at market in January. The high-tech bed is the result of 15 years of research at the Mebane, N.C.-based company’s Sleep to Live Institute. The bed’s opening price point has been reduced to $6,999, and tweaks include a plusher feel and an upgraded adjustable base option that is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled.

“What we’ve done for Vegas market is make a groundbreaking product even stronger,” said Frank Hood, Kingsdown president and chief executive officer. “During our preview period at the start of 2013, we listened carefully to the input provided by our dealers on how to make this collection even better, and the result is a top-notch product with a more accessible starting price point that makes it even more saleable for our retailers.”

A complete Sleep Smart website is in development, the company said, and a preliminary splash page can be accessed at www.sleepsmartbeds.com.

Kingsdown also has expanded the moderately priced Passions collection—introduced at the 2012 summer Las Vegas Market—to 18 models. The hybrid collection combines a coil core with foams, gel foams and gel fiber and retails from $699 to $1,699 in queen.

“With a broad range of comfort feels, modern styling and smart pricing, we’re confident this collection will have the mass appeal needed to help retailers increase their margins and extend their reach in the marketplace,” Hood said.
