At the end of the month, industry veteran Russ Bowman will retire after more than 40 years in the bedding and textile machinery industry, 23 of them with Global Systems Group, the machinery division of Carthage, Missouri-based industry supplier Leggett & Platt. For more than 15 years, Bowman has been GSG president of sales and market development for the United States and Canada.

Bowman’s extensive knowledge and diverse talents have provided a great base to grow the U.S. sales staff and management team, L&P said in a news release.

Another industry veteran, Mike Miller, general manager of GSG company Porter International, has been named to succeed Bowman, while continuing in his duties at Porter.

In anticipation of its continuing global expansion, GSG said it was making staffing adjustments to meet the needs of its growing international customer base.

Ed Grether, GSG president of international sales, moves into a new role as director of strategic advisory. Grether’s bedding industry career spans more than 40 years. According to the company, he has been instrumental in developing a strong core of sales and service centers worldwide.

Todd Nechtem, formerly vice president of sales and marketing, was promoted to president of international sales and market development. Nechtem, with 20 years of industry experience, is responsible for European markets and supervision of all regional markets outside the United States and Canada.
