Celessence fragrance technology used to make bacon-scented pillows

Celessence Technologies Ltd., a microencapsulation company based in Rochester, England, announced it has developed a scent technology for sleep products that uses Procter & Gamble’s Febreze air freshener and other fragrances released through friction or touch.

Springs Global, a multinational home textiles maker based in Montes Claros, Brazil, has licensed the new technology for use in its Febreze Sleep Serenity pillows and protection products, as well as in its Kidscentz scented pillows for children. The pillows have whimsical scents, such as watermelon, bubble gum, cupcake—and even bacon.

The Celessence fragrance feature is targeted to bedding, apparel and more durable goods, such as car mats and pet beds. It is “non-leaching,” long-lasting and will stand up to repeated washings and, in some cases, the life of the product.
