Machinery executive Kevin Ryan dies

Former Edge-Sweets (ESCO) President Kevin Ryan died on May 14 in Michigan. He was 56.

Ryan was an engineer and a native of Australia whose career spanned more than three decades and included executive-level positions with polyurethane foam machinery companies. In 2004, he left his position as general manager of Wintech, an Australian supplier of CNC contour-cutting machinery for polyurethane foam, to become president of foam processing and cutting equipment supplier ESCO, with headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a position he held for more than five years. Most recently, Ryan was director of sales and business development for Intex Technologies. He also was an entrepreneur and owned various businesses.

Survivors include his parents Kevin and Trixie; children Kristy and Sean; life partner Jennifer Petzak and her five children; three brothers and a sister; a grandson; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family asks that donations be made to The Lisa Fund, which supports research into late-stage colorectal cancer; the fund is managed by the nonprofit organization Fight Colorectal Cancer.
