L&P innersprings now ‘Made in USA Certified’

Mattress industry supplier Leggett & Platt, which has headquarters in Carthage, Missouri, has had its innersprings designated as “Made in USA Certified,” by the leading third-party certifier of country-of-origin claims. The Made in USA Certified designation means a product’s raw materials have been traced back to their original sources and the company’s entire supply chain has been carefully examined.

Leggett & Platt’s steel originates in its mill in Sterling, Illinois, where recycled scrap metal is turned into steel rod. That rod is drawn into wire at one of the company’s wire mills and then formed into innersprings.

“For more than 130 years, people have trusted Leggett & Platt innersprings for comfort and support,” said Eric Rhea, president of the Leggett & Platt Bedding Group. “We’re proud to continue showing our commitment to quality, while supporting American families, jobs and the economy,”

Commenting on the new designation, Mark Kinsley, staff vice president of marketing for the Bedding Group, said, “Shoppers may not ask about every step of our process, but ‘Made in USA’ matters to a lot of people. We want our manufacturing and retail partners to be able to tell the story of homegrown products on the sales floor.”
