Microban strengthens global leadership team

Anti-microbial solution provider Microban International, with headquarters in Huntersville, North Carolina, has filled three new management positions around the world. Robert Gunn was hired as managing director in Europe; Martin Szeto joined the company as managing director in Asia; and Renato Souza was brought in as senior sales director for Latin America.

All three join experienced teams and will focus on commercial development in consumer, industrial, medical and textile businesses, a news release said.

Gunn has responsibility for leading Microban’s commercial development throughout Europe and leads the team there in achieving sales goals, expanding existing customer relationships and identifying and signing new business partners.

He brings a strong business development background to the post and, most recently, served as chief executive of Fixed Phage Ltd. Prior to that, he was vice president of business development at Revolymer PLC. Previously, Gunn held a number of positions ranging from business development to general management within the Imperial Chemicals Industries portfolio companies.

Szeto is responsible for leading the Asia-Pacific commercial development team to achieve sales goals, enhance customer relationships and generate new business.

Before joining Microban, Szeto was deputy managing director for Groz-Beckert. While there, he developed and executed sales and operations strategies for China and Hong Kong. Previously, he was global business development director with Huntsman Textile Effects and, prior to that, he was Asia export marketing director for apparel at Invista.

Souza leads commercial development throughout Brazil and the Latin America region, including nurturing relationships with existing customers and prospecting new business. Most recently, he was segment director for Latin America with Essentra. Prior to that, he was sales and marketing director for South America at Mauser Group, and head of sales and marketing with W.L. Gore and Associates.

“With more than 70 years of experience between them, Robert, Renato and Martin bring proven track records that will facilitate growth on a global scale,” said Richard Chapman, Microban vice president of global marketing. “As the demand for anti-microbial technologies grows, it is critical for us to have the right people in place to work in tandem with customers around the globe. This talented team demonstrates our commitment to make that happen.”
