Select Comfort gives scholarships

As a tie-in to its new SleepIQ Kids beds, Minneapolis-based mattress maker and retailer Select Comfort is giving away six college scholarships and six SleepIQ Kids beds—a total prize value of $134,000.

“We believe better sleep is the ultimate school supply because well-rested kids are more confident and do better in school, sports and in life,” said Shelly Ibach, Select Comfort president and chief executive officer.

To enter the contest, children will either draw a picture or write a 200-word essay—depending on their age—about why sleep is important to them and how it helps them achieve their dreams. SleepIQ Kids beds include Sleep Number’s adjustable firmness level, head-tilt feature and under-bed lights. In addition, they incorporate technology that notifies parents if children are restless or get out of bed, as well as allows parents to monitor sleep and turn off lights remotely.
