Industry supplier Leggett & Platt Inc., headquartered in Carthage, Missouri, is closing its mattress spring plant in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on June 1.

According to a story in the Denver Post, 64 workers will be laid off.

In the story, Michael Altman, director of labor relations for L&P, said the company is consolidating its operations. He added that the decision to close the plant was made before an October 2015 Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspection, which resulted in a $77,000 fine.

According to the story, OSHA conducted the inspection after an employee was allegedly pulled into a machine and injured.

Altman said that the company will challenge OSHA on the fines.
