Bedgear Aids Flooding Victims

Bedgear Performance Bedding, with headquarters in Farmingdale, New York, donated 1,225 pillows and 223 mattress protectors to Houston-area flood victims in May.

Working with retailer Mattress Firm and local nonprofit the Houston Furniture Bank, the sleep accessories supplier said it wanted to help those in desperate need of a dry, comfortable sleep environment to replace ruined bedding.

“We are proud to lend a helping hand to these disaster victims,” said Eugene Alletto, Bedgear founder and chief executive officer. “More than 6,700 homes have been flooded, displacing thousands of people, and the figure is expected to rise.

“It touches us even deeper to know that some of the victims are with our retail partner Mattress Firm, which is based in Houston,” Alletto added. “We applaud the Houston Furniture Bank in its efforts to support the flood victims and we urge other firms and organizations to make their own sizable donation to help this devastated region.”
