Industry veteran Roger Magowitz has joined Customatic Adjustable Bedz as executive vice president.
In his new role at the adjustable base manufacturer headquartered in Natick, Massachusetts, Magowitz is focused on developing key-account relationships and working with retailers.
Magowitz is a 30-year bedding industry veteran who ran a chain of mattress stores in Arizona, Georgia and Virginia under the brands Mattress Discounters and Metropolitan Mattress. When the business was sold to Mattress Firm in 2010, he worked with the company in an advisory role on community relations and philanthropy.
He also is founder of the Seena Magowitz Foundation and, for more than a decade, has rallied the home furnishings industry to support research into finding a cure for pancreatic cancer. To date, his foundation has raised millions of dollars and increased awareness of the deadly disease.
According to a news release, Customatic has supported the Seena Magowitz Foundation since its inception.
“We have worked with Roger for more than 25 years,” said Phil Sherman, Customatic managing partner. “He is one of the most knowledgeable retailers in the country, cultivating close relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, as well. We believe he will be a great resource to our (original-equipment-manufacturer) and retailer customers, helping them become more profitable by tapping into the resources of the Customatic portfolio.”
Commenting on his new role, Magowitz said: “I had been watching (principals Phil Sherman and Phil McCarty), for whom I have the utmost respect, build an outstanding brand in Customatic. The quality, innovation and customer service they bring to the adjustable category is refreshing. Their plans for future growth are very exciting and I wanted to be a part of it.”
