Champion Thread Co., a supplier of industrial sewing threads, engineered yarns and other textile and sewn products supplies, has promoted Jim Lee to vice president of business development. He previously was director of sales and marketing.

In his expanded role, Lee is responsible for developing growth strategies and leading the expansion of the Gastonia, North Carolina-based company’s diverse textile, consumer goods and industrial markets.

Lee has been with Champion for eight years and is a 20-year veteran of the textile-manufacturing industry. He has worked with Springs Global, Galey and Lord and LaFrance Industries, and holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Clemson University, and certifications in purchasing management, supply chain professional, and production and inventory management.
Champion is a family-owned and operated company founded in 1979. It serves a broad customer base, including agricultural, automotive, home furnishings, protective apparel, textiles and other manufacturing sectors.
