International testing and certification company Control Union, with world headquarters in the Netherlands and U.S. headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has updated the Global Organic Latex Standard.
GOLS now covers both certified organic latex foam components and finished products made with certified organic latex. A PDF of the Global Organic Latex Standard 3.0 standard is available for download.
The new standard certifies both organic latex foam (made with a 95% latex rubber sap content from organic-certified rubber tree plantations) and entire finished products containing organic latex, including mattresses, pillows, other types of bedding and top-of-bed items, and home furnishings.
“Control Union has had a partnership with the textile industry for many years,” said Robert Demianew, vice president of Control Union Certifications LLC in Fort Lauderdale. “When industry challenges arose in the past, we worked to find worldwide, third-party certification solutions that ensured high levels of integrity. This has been the case with our involvement in the development of the Global Recycle Standard, Global Organic Standard and Responsible Down Standard.
“We now have a fully up-to-date and comprehensive worldwide certification program for organic latex products. We encourage companies that wish to market these products with proper certification to contact us.”
