BedMart Mattress Superstores, a Portland, Oregon-based retailer with a number of locations in Hawaii, has donated $70,000 worth of Tempur-Pedic mattresses to Hawaiian families in need.
On April 4 at the BedMart store in Honolulu, BedMart donated 70 mattresses to Helping Hands Hawaii, a Honolulu-based organization dedicated to serving Hawaii’s most vulnerable families, communities and people. In addition to the mattresses, BedMart provided mattress protectors from GBS Enterprises.
“The BedMart family is proud to contribute to an organization that positively impacts lives in the community,” said Elana Stone-Anderson, vice president of marketing for BedMart. “We want everyone in the community to sleep well, and it’s our goal that this donation will help several individuals at Helping Hands Hawaii.”
Founded in 1974, Helping Hands Hawaii works to provide people, families and organizations with essential resources. “Many of our families struggle with poverty and find it difficult to pay for their basic necessities every month, like rent, utilities and food,” said Jan M. Harada, president and chief executive officer of Helping Hands Hawaii. “For them, including those who are transitioning from homelessness to housing, sleeping on a bed is a luxury that they cannot afford. This donation will make a significant and immediate impact on 70 individuals or families in our community, and we are so grateful to the team at BedMart for reaching out to help local families in need.”
