The Humboldt, Tennessee-based Jones Family of Companies, which includes Jones Nonwovens and Jones Yarn, has appointed Steve Tonkel chief financial officer and added Gary Raley to its board.
A certified public accountant with almost 30 years of experience in the accounting and finance fields, Tonkel has worked for manufacturers of automotive parts, river barges and ocean tankers and heavy construction equipment.
“We are very excited to have Steve Tonkel as the CFO at the Jones Family of Companies,” said Richard Ayers, chief executive officer, who previously served as CFO. “Steve’s background and experience in financial and strategic leadership will enhance our organization’s ability to execute our strategic plan with a focus on being the preferred supplier in the markets we serve. Steve’s core values align perfectly with the core values of the Jones Family of Companies, and Steve supports our mission of being people oriented, quality driven and value focused.”
Commenting on his appointment, Tonkel said: “I was drawn to the Jones Family of Companies due to their rich and value-based heritage of being a dignified company to their customers and employees. The future is bright at Jones; opportunity in both the current markets and emerging markets will lead to successful results. I am extremely fortunate to be a part of the Jones family team. I truly have been welcomed as if I am family.”
Raley is the seventh and final addition to the company’s newly formed board of directors. He brings significant board experience, currently serving as a director for Bemis Manufacturing, Weigel’s Stores, Buehler’s Fresh Foods and Gorilla Glue. His most recent employer was S.C. Johnson, where he was vice president of U.S. sales.
“Gary’s experience in sales and marketing will both enrich the board and allow him to serve as a guide for the future of our brand as we expand our business units,” Ayers said.
With the addition of Raley, the board of directors includes three Jones family members, three nonfamily members and Ayers, who also is nonfamily representative.
