Beaumont, Texas, Sept. 13, 2017 — Furniture First, a national buying group for independently-owned furniture retailers, in partnership with Serta Mattress Company graciously donated a tractor-trailer load of mattresses to the citizens of Beaumont, Texas and the surrounding Southeast Texas communities. The donation is being managed and facilitated by Howell Furniture, a member of the buying group located in the area devastated by flooding as a result of Hurricane Harvey. Howell Furniture has chosen to distribute the mattresses through their local chapters of United Way.

“Howell Furniture has been part of the Beaumont community for almost 60 years and a member of the Furniture First community for eight years. When part of your community suffers devastating losses, you pitch in and help however you can. That’s why we are helping Howell Furniture help their fellow citizens in Beaumont,” said Andrew Kauffman, CEO of Furniture First.

“So many families in our area, including many of our employees, were affected by the devastation, that the needs are overwhelming. This kind gesture will go a long way in helping our communities rebuild. We are grateful for the support of our vendors and partners and their generous donations to our communities in the aftermath of this disaster” said Tom Schwaab, Partner of Howell Furniture. Tom is also the current Chairman of the Board for Furniture First.
