IntelliBed plans retail expansion

Advanced Comfort Technologies, the Salt Lake City–based franchiser that manufactures and distributes IntelliBed sleep products, is planning to open 18 to 24 stores across the country and internationally within the next year.

Since Advanced Comfort Technologies launched its first store in September 2002 in Salt Lake City, the company has opened 22 franchise or company–owned stores in eight states (Utah, California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Missouri and Idaho) and Canada.

Company President Bob Rasmussen said new IntelliBed stores will be opened in six to eight yet–to–be–determined markets. Each market will typically include three new stores—one owned by the company and the other two owned by a franchisee.

“The IntelliBed stores are really designed to educate the public about sleep and wellness issues. In addition to carrying a full line of IntelliBed products—including mattresses, pillows, sheets and mattress toppers—each store will have other types of mattress technologies so people can really compare products side by side,” Rasmussen said.

The IntelliBed products are made of IntelliGel, a honeycomb–patterned material.
