Eric Spitzer has been named senior vice president and Bill Frame has been appointed director of manufacturing services at the newly formed, Boston–based Spring Air International.
Spitzer has had a long relationship with the Spring Air brand. He was president and chief executive officer of Slumberon Industries, a Chicago–based mattress maker that became a Spring Air licensee in 1981. He was elected to the company’s board in 1995 and was named chairman in 2001. When Spring Air reorganized in 2007, he served as vice president of national accounts and contract sales during the transition.
“As we focus our efforts on a local licensee model, Eric’s experience as chairman during the most significant growth period in the company’s history will prove invaluable to the new Spring Air International,” said Rick Robinson, company president.
Spitzer’s responsibilities include business development with U.S. and international licensees. He is based in Chicago and reports to Robinson.
Frame most recently served as plant manager and head of research and development for the former Spring Air company. There, he led an 18–month project installing a software system that enabled the company to go paperless. He also has held manufacturing positions at Serta and Sealy, as well as in the auto industry.
“Bill’s knowledge of mattress manufacturing, product development and design and his facility with information systems and technologies will be a tremendous asset to every Spring Air licensee,” Robinson said.
Frame’s responsibilities include working with licensees in coordinating new product development, pooling best practices and developing new vendor programs and services.
He also will develop and implement quality assurance standards for Spring Air products. He also reports to Robinson.
