Declines in the number of units and the dollar value of mattresses sold in the United States moderated somewhat in May, but still hit double–digits. Unit shipments fell 14% in May 2009 over the same month in 2008, according to the Bedding Barometer, a monthly sales activity report from the International Sleep Products Association. The dollar value of mattresses sold fell 14.7% during the same period. The average unit price dipped 0.8%.
