Industry veteran Ed Malechek has been named president and chief operating officer of Carpenter Co., which is based in Richmond. Va. He previously was executive vice president.
Stan Yukevich, former president, has stepped down from that post and now will serve as vice chairman of the board. He also will assist Malechek in the transition.
Malechek is responsible for Carpenter’s operations in North America, including the Engineering Groups and the Reinhart Technical Center.
Yukevich will continue to oversee corporate purchasing. Carpenter’s European operations are managed by Rolf Pötzsch, who will continue to report to Yukevich.
Malechek has long been active in the International Sleep Products Association and its Better Sleep Council. In 2006, he was presented with ISPA’s Robert MacMorran Memorial Award.
