In December, Liberty Threads N.A. Inc., a Winsted, Conn.–based supplier, was awarded a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its newest thread, the Ultimate “K” Fire Break. The sewing thread is designed to be used in tape–edge equipment, said Robert Hegan, Liberty Treads president. It also can be dyed to match mattress tape and ticking.
