Liberty Threads gets patent

In December, Liberty Threads N.A. Inc., a Winsted, Conn.–based supplier, was awarded a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its newest thread, the Ultimate “K” Fire Break. The FR thread was developed to help mattress manufacturers meet the federal open–flame mattress standard, 16 CFR Part 1633. The sewing thread is designed to be used in tape–edge equipment, said Robert Hegan, Liberty Treads president. It also can be dyed to match mattress tape and ticking.
