U.S. bedding sales (mattresses and foundations) rose 7.3% in 2010 when compared to 2009, according to the latest Bedding Barometer, a monthly sales report from the International Sleep Products Association. The wholesale dollar value of those units increased 6.6% in 2010 over the previous year. The average unit selling price slipped 0.7%. The numbers come from the December Bedding Barometer, which showed December unit sales up 3.6% over December 2009, dollar value up 2.9% and the AUSP down 0.7% in the month–to–month comparison. The year–end numbers are preliminary. Final figures will be available in ISPA’s annual report, issued in the spring.
