Carpenter develops odor-neutralizing foam

Foam producer Carpenter Co., with headquarters in Richmond, Va., has launched a new foam chemistry called IsoFresh that it says neutralizes the distinct odor emanating from new foam bedding products.

IsoFresh chemistry eliminates the need for an airing-out period with new foam products, according to the company. Carpenter is using it in all pillows, mattress toppers and mattress pads the company produces under its SleepBetter brand for the consumer market.

The IsoFresh chemistry, developed in Carpenter’s Reinhart Technical Center, “changes foam at the molecular level so that its entire structure works to neutralize odors right at their source,” the company said.

“IsoFresh is the sweet smell of success for the Reinhart Center,” said Dan Schecter, Carpenter senior vice president of consumer products. “We look for opportunities to improve how consumers experience bedding products and, based on their feedback, apply the leading scientific and technical resources of the tech center to create the best new pillows, mattress pads and mattress toppers available anywhere.”
