Agru buys assets of Performance Fabrics & Fibers

Agru America has expanded its textile capabilities by purchasing the assets of the Performance Fabrics & Fibers plant in Andrews, S.C. The deal closed in late January.

Performance Fabrics & Fibers products include geotextiles, fabrics, fibers and the trademarked BlaZbarrier flame-retardant mattress barrier fabric, all of which are now part of the Agru America family of products. The Andrews plant, which contains a burn center for testing FR products, also is now part of Agru America’s holdings.

With the acquisition, Agru America said it is expanding its role “as a top supplier of quality products with the high performance that is so critical” to its customers’ businesses. Agru America, with headquarters and a factory in Georgetown, S.C., also has a facility in Fernley, Nev. It’s been a U.S. manufacturer of geosynthetics since 1988.

Agru America is part of Alois Gruber GmbH, a family-owned business with production and distribution facilities worldwide.
