Palmpring USA, a Los Angeles-based manufacturer of natural latex and coconut fiber mattresses, has opened a flagship retail store on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles.
“We are so proud to introduce a higher-quality ‘green’ mattress to the U.S. audience,” said Camilla Kim, Palmpring USA chief executive officer. “The typical Palmpring customer is one who has already tried a variety of mattresses and found that they don’t offer enough firmness and has lost sleep tossing and turning too much because of the lack of support.”
Palmpring USA is part of Palmpring Co. Ltd. based in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea—a company founded in 1997 by Kim’s father.
The beds’ cores include 100% natural latex layered with very dense coconut fiber, or coir, that is organically grown in India. The ticking is 100% organic cotton and the fire barrier is natural New Zealand wool. Mattresses are zoned. The line includes three “signature, sandwich-style” mattresses, with suggested retail prices ranging from $2,200 to $2,900 in queen-size sets. The most popular style is the 4-Way Mattress with two layers of latex and two layers of coir, Kim said. The two-sided beds offer the sleeper the ability to flip the mattress to experience alternating levels of firmness.
