Just how big is the bedding business? What is its scale and scope? The BedTimes June cover story presents the latest sales data and trends from the global mattress industry—everything from the size of the international mattress market (about $3.18 billion) to the most popular mattress price points ($500-$1,000) to the most-often purchased mattress size (queen)—all presented in an array of lively charts and graphs.

The idea of a “visual guide to the bedding business” was conceived by Associate Editor Barbara Nelles, a visually oriented editor who led our push to include more photos, videos and slide shows on our website. Managing Editor Mary Best took her idea and threw herself into the enormous task of sorting through and organizing all the information available to us from the International Sleep Products Association and other sources. Then Stephanie Belcher, our art director, took on the even bigger job of presenting those facts and figures in easy-to-understand charts and graphs. Thanks to them for all their work. I know you’ll find the piece interesting and informative.

Also in the June BedTimes: a roundup of sleep products introductions from the spring High Point Market, a look at new allergen-protection products for mattresses and pillows, and a profile of Weil’s Mattress Co.
