Tulane stadium named for Yulman family

Tulane University in New Orleans announced it will name its new on-campus football stadium Yulman Stadium, after Janet and Richard Yulman. The latter is the retired chairman and co-founder of National Bedding, the Serta licensee that instigated the wrap-up of the Serta brand and sold the company to private equity investors in 2005. The Yulmans donated $15 million toward construction of the 25,000-seat, $55-million facility, which is expected to open for the 2014 football season.

Richard Yulman also serves on the university’s governing board. His daughter Katy graduated from Newcomb College Institute of Tulane University in 2005.
