Each WorldBed Studio consumer purchase funds an individual WorldBed Inc. donation. The value of the donation increases with the price of the bed. The charity WorldBed Inc. was founded in 2007 by bedding industry veteran David Farley. He is now a consultant to both WorldBed Inc. and WorldBed Studio.
WorldBed Studio offers three all-foam mattress collections. At the top of the line is the patent-pending ComfortTop mattress with a unique reinforced perimeter that offers a strong seat edge. The ComfortTop design is similar to a pillow-top but with a rolled edge that juts out slightly to increase the bed’s sleep surface. The WorldBed Studio good-better-best lineup includes Base Comfort, Extended Comfort and Shared Comfort. Suggested retail price points are from $599 to $3,399 in queen sizes.
Consumers can select which WorldBed cause their donation goes toward: U.S. homeless shelters, Third World healthcare facilities, military members abroad or AIDS victims in Africa. The charity donates a range of bedding and goods, including camp beds, bedrolls, standard mattresses and other gift items.
“We had really positive reaction to the design of the ComfortTop bed in Las Vegas,” Farley said. “Our intent was to make a mattress that answers problems with memory-foam construction. It’s in the way these beds are assembled, in the woven fabric edges. This is cutting edge. This is also about helping retailers solve the lack of trust issue and too many people walking out. WorldBed Studio and its ‘shared comfort model’ is the most exciting and potentially game-changing project I’ve ever been associated with. Following in the footsteps of social entrepreneur James Marshall Reilly, I feel great about what we’re doing, I think we can ‘shake the world’.”
