Components supplier Hickory Springs Mfg. Co. has officially launched Preserve Hi Flo reticulated polyurethane foams to the bedding industry. Reticulated foams, which are highly porous and net-like, have been used in other products such as outdoor furniture and air conditioner filters for some time but are relatively new in bedding applications.
In 2012, the Hickory, N.C.-based company partnered with Latexco in Lavonia, Ga., on the creation of XstreamAir, a highly breathable mattress comfort layer, which seamlessly fuses latex over a layer of Preserve Hi Flo foam. XstreamAir is available in a variety of configurations and colors.
“Our Preserve Hi Flo product is unique because we pour it on line, and the production process does not require any post treating,” said Todd Councilman, Hickory Springs vice president bedding solutions. “In addition, we are the only foam manufacturer that offers an 83-inch-width reticulated foam product. The extra width allows bedding manufacturers to use the product in rolls and sheets, eliminating seams and contributing to a more consistent airflow across the entire mattress.”
Hickory Springs manufactures Preserve Hi Flo in a range of firmnesses and densities at its Americus, Ga., plant.
