Serta acquires Canadian licensee

Serta International Holdco LLC subsidiary Star Bedding Products Co. has bought Western Sleep Products Ltd. Western, which is based in Burnaby, British Columbia. Western Sleep had been an independent Serta licensee since 1972, serving Alberta and British Columbia.

Serta International is the parent of National Bedding Co. LLC, which is the majority owner and a licensee of Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Serta Inc.

Denis Jones, former Western Sleep vice president and general manager, will maintain a senior management role at the company, a news release reported. Delivery and service to retailers will continue without interruption.

“The acquisition of Western Sleep will help Serta International continue its path of significant growth in the Canadian market,” said Jim Nation, president of Serta International’s Canada operations. “We look forward to working with the management team to grow the Serta brand in Canada, while continuing to provide the highest level of service to our retail partners.”
