Simmons Bedding Co. has won Best Vehicle Design at the 2013 EX Awards, administered by Event Marketer magazine.
The Atlanta-based mattress major was honored for the design of its Comforpedic from Beautyrest tour vehicle. The showroom on wheels is a 53-foot double, expandable trailer designed to resemble Simmons’ furniture market showrooms, with eight staged bedrooms. The original Comforpedic tour lauched in 2011. A revamped tour kicked off after the fall 2012 High Point Market, bringing new Comforpedic models to Simmons dealers around the country.
“We’re thrilled and honored to be receiving an EX Award for what we have found to be such a successful, dynamic program,” said Scott Smalling, Simmons chief of specialty innovations. “For so long, there was a disconnect between our company and those dealers who simply couldn’t make it out to Vegas or High Point to see our new innovations in person. Now, through this portable showroom, we’re able to bring the story to them and engage with our retailers like never before.”
