White House nominates CPSC commissioner

The Obama administration has nominated Ann Marie Buerkle to serve as a commissioner of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Buerkle is a one-term Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing the Syracuse, N.Y., area and a former member of the House Tea Party Caucus. Her nomination must be confirmed by the Senate. It will most likely be paired with the nomination of plaintiff attorney Marietta Robinson, whose confirmation to serve on the CPSC has been stalled for more than a year.
