Werner Bieri

Werner Bieri, founder and chief executive officer of Buhler Quality Yarns Corp., died Nov. 2 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. He was 60 and a resident of Maysville, Ga.

Bieri was born and educated in Switzerland and was a Swiss army veteran. His long career in manufacturing included 25 years in the textile industry. Bieri joined Hermann Bühler AG in 1984 and served as managing director for 11 years. He then established and led the yarn company’s U.S. presence with headquarters in Jefferson, Ga.

Bieri served on the boards of a number of industry organizations including the National Council of Textile Organizations, Cotton Council International, the National Cotton Council and the Cotton Board.

Survivors include his wife Astuti; daughters Carolina and Cassandra; two sisters, Heidi Bieri and Marlies Rubin; and a brother, Ernest.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
