Gold Bond, an independent mattress manufacturer based in Hartford, Conn., has launched a two-sided, hybrid bed collection that the company said bridges the gap between high-end, certified-organic mattresses and beds with no “natural” components at all.
The Organic Cotton series targets “eco-friendly consumers,” Gold Bond said, with a more affordable price point of from $449 to $999 in queen sizes.
The beds are upholstered in organic cotton ticking and contain “all-natural cotton batting, as well as organic latex on top of the company’s signature spring support system with varying coil counts,” a news release stated.
“One organic mattress does not fit all,” said Bob Naboicheck, Gold Bond president. “The natural/organic category is now shades of green—with the darker green products generally having the higher price points. People are becoming more eco-aware but there are many in this segment that are not looking for the dark green but rather the lighter shades at affordable prices. This is where our line can help our retail partners differentiate themselves from their competitors as well as provide them with great margins for a product that is in high demand.”
