Wheeling, Illinois-based Simmons Engineering Corp., a supplier of cutting blades to foam fabricators and mattress manufacturers, has earned the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Achievement Certificate.

According to the Commerce Department’s website, the certificate recognizes companies that have benefited from the department’s U.S. Commercial Service, which has locations across the United States and abroad—to make their first export sale or enter new foreign markets.

The Commercial Service office in Chicago assisted Simmons in identifying distributors in Russia. Subsequently, Morgan Coghill, Simmons International sales manager, traveled to Russia to select a distributor.

In February, the company made its first major shipment to the new Russian distributor.
