Georgia Congressman John Barrow visited the Serta plant in Grovetown, Georgia, recently to learn about the company and the mattress industry. Employees spoke with the congressman about some of the regulatory issues affecting the industry, including pending rules under consideration by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Barrow sits on the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade, which has oversight of the CPSC.
As we approach the November elections, other elected officials may express interest in visiting manufacturers or businesses in their districts. These events establish relationships that can be helpful if and when government affairs issues arise. If you are interested in hosting elected officials at your facility, ISPA would be happy to assist you in making the necessary arrangements. For details, contact Chris Hudgins, ISPA’s vice president of government relations & policy.
