The plant at 7300 Imperial Drive is expected to employ 42 within a two-year period, according to a Dec. 22 story in The Waco Tribune. Mebane, North Carolina-based Kingsdown plans to spend $1.38 million to convert a 100,000-square-foot former postal facility there into a mattress factory.
“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to expand our operation to McLennan County to more effectively support our business growth in the region,” said Frank Hood, Kingsdown president and chief executive officer. “The dedicated professionals in both the public and private sectors of the city of Waco and of McLennan County have been fabulous to work with and we look forward to a long and successful partnership together.”
Hiring at the Waco plant began this month; manufacturing will commence Jan. 19, according to a Kingsdown news release. The site is Kingsdown’s sixth U.S. manufacturing plant.
