The new RestOn sleep monitor by Shenzen, China-based Sleepace, is a sensor-embedded band that stretches across the surface of a mattress to monitor sleep time, heart rate, respiratory rate, body movement and sleep cycles, a news release said. Part of the device’s appeal is that unlike other sleep monitors it is nonwearable, thus providing an unencumbered sleep experience.
RestOn retails for $149 plus shipping and is available at Amazon and the Sleepace website, www.sleepace.net. The product launched following a successful Indiegogo.com “crowdfunding” campaign that raised $159,000.

RestOn’s sensor-filled band is placed beneath the bed sheet, horizontally across the bed. Closing the base’s magnetic lid turns the device on, using patented MagneticLock. Users can download the free Sleepace app for Bluetooth-enabled Apple or Android mobile devices and begin monitoring their sleep quality night after night. One charge lasts about a month. FamilyCloud allows users to share sleep data with friends and family.
