Mattress Firm launches the Atmos Bed

Houston-based sleep shop mega-chain Mattress Firm has introduced Atmos, a heated and cooled all-foam mattress that uses the Climate Control Sleep System from Gentherm, based in Northville, Michigan. Gentherm’s temperature-regulating mattress system uses the same thermoelectric technology that’s used in climate-controlled car seats. Sleep partners each have the ability to control the temperature of their side of the bed.

Mattress Firm said the Atmos offers more advanced temperature-regulating technology and a host of other features not available in the YuMe bed, which the retailer discontinued in 2013. Atmos includes a power base with preset and custom body-positioning options, as well as a massage feature with an integrated timer and full range of pressure settings. Advanced foams offer additional temperature regulation and comfort, as well as responsive pressure relief and support. The bed’s features are controlled with a wireless remote or the Atmos app for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets.

Three Atmos climate-controlled bed sets with adjustable bases retail from $3,599 to $3,999.

“The Atmos mattress allows people to customize their sleep experiences based on individual temperature and comfort needs,” said Steve Stagner, Mattress Firm chief executive officer. “There’s a growing interest in how sleep and technology intersect, and our partnership with Gentherm has allowed us to create a product that provides an option for customers looking to tailor their sleep environment.”
