ISPA requests changes to improve import statistics

In an effort to increase the quality and usefulness of bedding-related import statistics, the International Sleep Products Association has asked the International Trade Commission to modify how imported mattresses and foundations are classified.

Currently, conventional adult mattresses, crib and bassinet mattresses, some mattress toppers and other products fall under a single classification.

ISPA has requested new definitions that would require importers to classify all twin-, full-, queen- and king-size mattresses separately from other bedding products. ISPA’s request will have no impact on the import duty rates that currently apply to these products.

Additionally, ISPA has requested that the ITC create a separate subcategory for adjustable foundations.
