EBIA awards sleep researcherThe European Bedding Industries’ Association has named Luigi Ferini-Strambi, associate professor of general psychology at Universita Vita-Salute in Milan, as its 2015 EBIA Award winner. Based in Brussels, EBIA is an umbrella organization of several European trade associations.

Ferini-Strambi is the author of nearly 200 publications on various sleep-related research topics and a member of several scientific societies, including the World Association of Sleep Medicine and the International REM Sleep Behavior Study Group. He has drawn public attention to the impact a good mattress has on sleep quality and was chosen for the EBIA award because of his dedication to improve people’s sleep and his bridge-building efforts with the bedding industry.

The EBIA awards program was created to promote creativity and innovation in the bedding industry. Winners of the award become honorary EBIA members and receive a 5,000 euro grant to support their ongoing work in the field of sleep.

EBIA was founded in 2000 to represent the interests of the bedding industry and currently has 150 members in 11 countries throughout Europe.
