Tempur-Pedic, part of Lexington, Kentucky-based Tempur Sealy, was a generous sponsor of an Operation Shower event held in Boston Oct. 19. Operation Shower is a St. Louis-based nonprofit whose mission is to honor military families by holding festive baby showers for service members’ spouses. Tempur-Pedic also is a sponsor of the PGA Tour, which is long-time supporter of Operation Shower. The Boston event was hosted by PGA Tour player and Ryder Cup champion Patrick Reed and NBC Sports broadcaster Dan Hicks.
The mattress maker’s participation in the Boston event made it extra special for the 25 moms and mothers-to-be, said Tempur Sealy spokesman Rick Maynard. Each knew they would receive gift packages of pillows, Teddy bears and body pillows from Tempur-Pedic, but (as shown in the video) they had no idea that a planned raffle of one Tempur-Pedic bed was a ruse to surprise each of them with a new bed.
“Thank you so much for the new mattress!” said attendee Amanda Eastabrook. “We immediately loved (our new mattress) and have already been sleeping better. This is one of the best gifts I have ever received!”
Guests at the event also enjoyed a catered lunch and received gifts ranging from strollers and high chairs, to playpens and diaper bags.
Operation Shower has hosted thousands of showers for military families, and receives support from individuals and other organizations across the country.
