Tempur Sealy International Inc., with headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky, is moving and upgrading its South Gate Sealy plant to a new Los Angeles-area location.
Tempur Sealy expansion is also happening in its operations in Mexico and South Korea.
“We are thrilled to announce our intention to make these long-term investments in the operations of our worldwide business,” said Scott Thompson, chair, president and chief executive officer. “The capital invested in these facilities highlights our commitment to quality product and growth of the company.”
Thompson noted that the company has outgrown the existing South Gate Sealy plant and that it also needs to be modernized. The new plant will include a distribution center. The site will be fully operational in early 2018.
South Gate currently employs about 120 people.
In Toluca, Mexico, Tempur Sealy bought additional, adjacent property to expand its existing plant. Sealy South Korea, part of the Sealy Asia Joint Venture, has opened a manufacturing and distribution center outside of Seoul. These two expansions will supply the facilities’ home markets.
