Boston-based mattress licensing group Spring Air International has promoted Nick Bates from vice president to president of the company.

He is the nephew of company principal and chief executive officer, Ed Bates, and succeeds Rick Robinson, who died suddenly in December.
“Although we continue to miss Rick, we’re also very fortunate that Nick has been with Spring Air for eight years and is prepared to take on the job,” Ed Bates said. “Our licensees are also very supportive of his appointment.”
Bates was hired in 2009 as a sales and marketing coordinator and, later, was made director of corporate accounts.
