Latexco launches springs unit

Latexco NV, headquartered in Tielt, Belgium, has partnered with a new pocket spring manufacturer, Wolf Components Ltd., based in Rotherham, England, to produce and market wrapped-coil cores in Europe.

According to a news release, Wolf Components was incorporated in February by ex-executives of Steinhoff International Holdings NV and Leggett & Platt Inc. Latexco principal Luc Maes holds a stake in the company. Wolf Components is focused on customer service, product quality and consistency. The company has opened a high-efficiency manufacturing plant, featuring high-speed, fully automatic machinery.

Wolf Components is to handle all U.K. sales, while a new business unit of Latexco, Latexco Springs, will sell product to the rest of Europe. Initial offerings are to include traditional pocketed coils for mattress cores, but not microcoils. Latexco Springs is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2018.

The new business unit is part of Latexco’s goal to become a one-stop shop for mattress makers, according to company officials. It currently supplies latex foam and polyurethane foam components, as well as turnkey mattress fabrication and fulfillment services.

“Having known Latexco and Luc Maes for close to 25 years, it was a wonderful opportunity to work together and to develop a joint spring business across Latexco’s exciting manufacturing and distribution entities in Europe,” said Anthony Joyce, Wolf Components managing director and a co-founder.
