Mary Best

Mary Best is the editorial director for BedTimes and Sleep Savvy magazines. She’s also the editor in chief of Sleep Savvy. She joined the ISPA publications team in 2011.

Mary has worked as a magazine editor for more than 25 years. Prior to joining ISPA, she served as editor of Our State: Down Home in North Carolina, The Net: Your Cyberspace Companion and United Airlines inflight magazine. She also worked as special projects editor for Furniture/Today.

Mary holds a bachelor’s degree in English and history as well as a master’s degree in American history from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is based in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Barbara Nelles

Barbara T. Nelles is content and digital editor of BedTimes and Sleep Savvy. Her mattress industry knowledge and experience spans more than 20 years.

She has a bachelor’s degree in English from Drew University and a diversified writing, editing and marcom background.

She began her career at a major Chicago advertising agency as a research analyst, moved on to being a fashion and market editor in New York and Los Angeles for a national woman’s weekly and, after raising two children, branched into public relations at a regional North Carolina advertising and PR agency. She is always learning and is a student of content, search, analytics, user experience and social media strategies.  She also is a recovered blogger, having written one of the first local food blogs in her current hometown of  Greensboro, North Carolina.


Managing Editor – Beth English

Beth English

Beth English is managing editor of BedTimes and Sleep Savvy magazines.

She is a seasoned communications professional and editor, and joined the ISPA publications staff from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she served as associate director of editorial services. During her 15-year career with the university, she worked as editor of UNCG Magazine and UNCG Research magazine, which garnered numerous regional and national awards during her tenure.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and of UNCG with a master’s in liberal studies, she worked as a reporter for several North Carolina newspapers and as public information officer with the Asheboro City Schools before joining UNCG. Beth is based in Greensboro, North Carolina.
