Intellibed Augments Team, Gears Up for Growth

Salt Lake City-based Intellibed, which has launched a new wholesale initiative for its proprietary Gel Matrix mattresses, has expanded its executive team. James Berry and Bryant Looper were each hired as vice president of sales, reporting to Dave Wachendorfer, executive vice president of sales. Ross Olinski joined the company as vice president of manufacturing and product development, reporting to Colin House, chief executive officer.

The company plans to phase out its own retail mattress stores and opened an expansive, redesigned showroom at the Winter Las Vegas Market in January.

Berry and Looper have more than 30 years in bedding industry sales, combined, and are tasked with managing the overall wholesale account strategy for the company.

Most recently, Berry was regional sales and marketing manager for Bedgear, where he supervised the regional sales team and worked closely with retail customers. Prior to that, he was with Serta Simmons Bedding LLC.

Previously, Looper was senior vice president of sales with smartbed company Responsive Surface Technology LLC, also known as ReST, where he was a founding partner. While there, he developed sales processes, implemented product launches and managed the core sales team. He also has held executive sales posts with Tempur Sealy International Inc. and Mattress Firm.

“Both Bryant and James bring a strong tradition of customer-focused excellence,” Wachendorfer said. “Their keen insights into the retail bedding market have already proven to be invaluable.”

Olinski is responsible for leading product innovation and expanding the company’s  manufacturing partnerships. He joins Intellibed from Talalay Global, where he was vice president of sales.

Olinski’s mattress industry background includes senior positions across both sales and manufacturing, including at Innocor and King Koil. He has a track record of forging strong customer and partner relationships, leading research and development centers, and successful implementation of new manufacturing methods, a news release said.

“Intellibed has grown rapidly over the last two years, and we are proud to be joined by a respected industry veteran who understands the needs of our retail partners,” House said. “We are in the process of building a long-term, sustainable and scalable business model and Ross’ expertise, particularly related to manufacturing processes, will be critical as we bring new innovations to market and expand our U.S. footprint.”
