MFI Plants Producing Medical Supplies

Industry supplier MFI International has switched to manufacturing medical supplies to aid in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a March 24 story in the Dallas Morning News.

MFI is a contract textiles manufacturer with headquarters in El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. It operates in a binational region that is home to more than 330 assembly plants.

The Dallas News reported that many other companies in the region also have begun the manufacture of personal protection equipment and garments, and medical device manufacturers there hope to begin producing medical supplies, such as ventilators.

“We are in a region where we can be a solution to the problem because when it comes to health, we have no borders,” said MFI President Cecilia Levine Ochoa. “We are part of the North America bloc, and as part of three countries, we can help each other when it comes to health. And this is the time to help.”

MFI began making protective garments Tuesday and is waiting for materials to make other medical supplies such as face masks, the Dallas News reported.
